Before we share these books with you, let’s provide some background as to the lack of representation in the personal finance area.
The interest in personal finance has drastically increased over the years, and the bookshelves are overflowing with new titles. However, it’s hard not to notice the glaring lack of Latinx authors in this sea of finance wisdom (this finance wisdom= 500 books published annually). As the Latino community in the U.S. booms (I mean, over 111 million that’s 28% by 2060?!), it’s high time we hear their unique financial stories and address their specific needs.
Quick stats: Latinx authors make up only 7.6% of ALL authors – que locura (that is crazy)! This creates a gap in role models for financial success in our community. We need to address unique issues like cultural influences, language barriers, and challenges faced by immigrant families. Without enough relevant role models, nuestra comunidad might struggle to find financial freedom that caters to our distinct experiences. We seriously need Latino voices in the financial conversation, no te parece (don’t you think)?
