3 Ways to be Meaningful with your Finances | HDM 247

Every year we create resolutions and outline the goals we want to accomplish but here are some things we can do to make those goals more attainable. Especially after such a crazy year at 2020 was for all of us, this new year I want to help you push the reset button to reframe your mind and be more meaningful with your financial life!

What you’ll learn about in today’s episode:

  • 3 Ways to be more meaningful with your finances
  • Some of the experiences involved in my own money story
  • How to push the reset button to start off fresh this new year

Resetting three key areas to reframe your mind

Being meaningful in our financial life simply means sparking more joy. We tend to focus on the goals and although reaching those goals will definitely spark joy, at times we tend to hit roadblocks. If we work on resetting the following key areas, it will be so much easier to navigate those roadblocks. And, you know, I am all about trying to keep things as simple as possible.

Let’s begin exploring the 3 areas that can help you have a more meaningful year!

1. Focus on what you can control

This is extremely important to have clarity around your money so that you know exactly what you have available to use as savings and for investments. Think about which factors you are able to control, for example, how much money to save each month and how much to invest. Know how much you have, where each dollar is going, how much you are spending and most of all, be honest with yourself in the process.

2. Be the owner of your own story

Reflect on the experiences that have shaped you and all of the lessons those experiences have fostered. I share a lot of my own experiences to help you think of your own and how those experiences have shaped you as well as your money story. Be proud of those experiences and your journey and recognize that all that you have lived has resulted in your unique perspective on life as a whole and that is your superpower!

I want to also invite you to think about what you want your life to look like this year? Define what things you want to do for yourself, for your family, and for your future overall. Maybe this is the year you want to take up a hobby you had always enjoyed but haven’t done in a while, and make sure you don’t let yourself be affected by what you see on the news or on social media.

3. Prioritize what is important to you (not the experts) and trust your gut

Tied to defining what you want in your life, make note of those goals and don’t worry about how others are doing it or have done it, just follow your gut and make it happen for yourself. Trust yourself, you got this!
